The Laborindex Rating and detailed provided with the rating is an objective measurement of a construction contractor’s ability to operate a legitimate, compliant, and overall quality organization.  All rating detail being referenced is provided by the contractor, professionals representing the contractor, as well as local and national bureaus and licensing bodies.  Each rating portion is closely aligned with U.S.-based standards for general accepted accounting principles (GAAP), insurance, bonding, operational, and building code guidelines.  The rating does not act as a guarantee that work will be performed to specifications nor does the rating reflect a contractor’s ability to perform at the highest level in their particular skill or specialty.

Subjective information, such as pricing and quality of the end product, are to be assessed by the end consumer (Client / Customer) and deficiencies in craftsmanship and/or agreements that are in question should be remedied with the contractor.  If a dispute cannot be resolved, an impartial arbiter should be chosen to work with both parties to resolve the matter prior to entering the legal system.  If a compliant arises that cannot be resolved, we also recommend that local and state attorney general offices be notified as well as the Better Business Bureauâ to ensure that all negative experiences are logged.

Laborindex is not liable for the decision to use or not use a contractor based on their current or past ratings.  The rating, in conjunction with your personal or group’s opinion on general risk, will provide in most instances the necessary means to validate legitimacy, compliance, and overall quality.  The ultimate decision weighs entirely on the end consumer of the contractor.

To further mitigate the risk of entering in to an agreement with a contractor, check with your local municipal building official to ensure that all required the prospective contractor has fulfilled licensing requirements.  If any requirements are in need of explanation, Laborindex will provide as much explanation necessary or the appropriate contact information to educate the consumer.
