Available in over 70 communities currently in the Chicagoland area, Laborindex Rating System information is on display in the building departments to offer residents, business owners and contractors information on how to validate the legitimacy of area contractors.
Municipal building departments cannot recommend a contractor or even offer information on area contractors with the fear of creating liability for their group and the municipality as a whole. Since Laborindex is a true third party and we provide only objective information, our organization is being used by the municipality to offer any residential or commercial construction consumer with the most information possible on area contractors.

"OK, sounds interesting, what can my building department do to protect my community using the Laborindex Rating System?"
1. Display information on the Laborindex Rating System in your building department. Let every individual or company that applies for a permit know that the service is available in your community.
2. Publish in your monthly or quarterly newsletter that Laborindex is available to the community at no cost and the system is in place to protect everyone in the community as well as legitimate contractors.
3. If you are a home-rule community, ask us how to develop a local ordinance utilizing our information or an equivalent organization prior to licensing contractors. This program simply mandates that contractors become rated and does not restrict a contractor from performing in a municipality. This simply lets any consumer or user of contractor services understand the past history of the contractor.
Does the rating discriminate from one contractor to another?
The Laborindex Rating System is a completely impartial system. It views objective information in a completely objective way. As the nation's first standard for the construction industry, we have gathered data to accurately assess a contractor's ability to operate a legitimate, compliant, and overall quality organization.
This assessment, combined with our ability to put each component of the rating system in its proper context, provides any consumer of the rating with the most comprehensive means to validate the contractor's standing.
Please contact Laborindex at (847) 526-2773 or at info@laborindex.com to reserve your municipal brochure stand. We will furnish your building department with 100 consumer forms, 50 contractor forms, and 25 contractor applications. |
